  • Carlos will get back behind the wheel of the car. Yesterday evening he was given the green light and today he feels less pain.
  • Following the damages sustained yesterday in the Odyssey 21, the team has been lent the test car of Spark by the organization of Extreme E.

ACCIONA | SAINZ XE Team will be able to race in Sardinia’s Island X Prix II, even though the car of the team was heavily damaged yesterday by a rival when it was leading the Final of the first X Prix of the week.

After a closer inspection of the consequences of the accident, the mechanics of the ASXE Team concluded that it was not possible to repair the team’s car on time for the event that is set to take place on Saturday and Sunday.

For situations like this, the organization makes available to the teams the test car of Spark, the manufacturer of the electric off-road vehicles of this ground-breaking series. ACCIONA | SAINZ XE Team is working flat out to prepare it.

Quotes:

Carlos Sainz, driver:

"First of all, thank you very much for your kindness and support after what happened yesterday. I am glad to be here. I am not completely well, but we will try to race tomorrow and move on. Yesterday’s result was a shame because we would have fought for big things. We were in the lead when the incident happened and it looked good. But, I insist, now we look forward".

Laia Sanz, driver:

"The mechanics of the team are working flat out. We will race with the test car of the organization because there is no time to fix ours. It is not the ideal scenario, but both Carlos and I are really looking forward to getting back in the car and giving our best".
