  • Carlos Sainz and Laia Sanz will compete on Sunday in Semi-Final 2, where two tickets for the Final of the last X Prix of the season will be at stake.

ACCIONA | SAINZ XE Team finished in third place in the Qualifying session of the Jurassic X Prix, meaning that tomorrow the team will race in Semi-Final 2 as it aims for the second podium of the year in the last round of the calendar.

Carlos Sainz and Laia Sanz set the third fastest time both in Qualifying 1 and in Qualifying 2, showing great consistency despite the fact that the conditions of the track changed significantly between sessions.

Q1 was held on Friday on a muddy track, while Q2 was held on Saturday morning on drier conditions. Just as in Sardinia, the ASXE Team was once again one of the strongest teams in the midfield.

In Extreme E, points are awarded to each competitor in each Qualifying session depending on their performances. These points constitute the final results of Qualifying. Therefore, today the team was third.

Besides having a strong car in terms of performance, another positive from today was the reliability of the Odyssey 21, which has been completely smooth throughout Free Practice and Qualifying.

This Sunday, ASXE Team will face Rosberg X Racing and ABT Cupra XE in the Semi-Final 2. The race will be two laps and the two first cars to cross the finish line will advance to the Final of the last X Prix of the season.

QUOTES

Carlos Sainz, driver:

“So far this is being our best weekend of the season. We were especially quick when there was more mud on the track. This Sunday we will give our very best to reach the final. Our Semi-final will be really challenging, but we will try to make our way to the Final of the Jurassic X Prix”.

Laia Sanz, driver:

“We are really satisfied so far with this weekend. We were faster when there was mud on track, but now the lap times are improving and all the cars are really tight. I think we have done a good job so far. With the pace we have, we can fight for a good result”.

Albert Fàbrega, team principal:

“We are really happy at the moment. Reliability is finally respecting us and this is enabling Laia and Carlos to make the most of their driving. So far it has been a challenging weekend because the track has changed a lot from one session to another. The drivers have had to adjust accordingly and the car is performing well, so we are achieving our objectives. On Sunday we will be in the toughest Semi-final, but we will give our best to ensure that Laia and Carlos reach the Final, which is our goal for this Jurassic X Prix”.
